Health Educator/Communications Specialist - Remote (R&D)
SUMMARY
The Health Educator-Communications Specialist works as part of the Occupational Health Branch COVID-19 Team in the California Department of Public Health and collaborates with scientific staff to summarize and translate technical information, findings, and guidance for prevention of COVID-19 and similar airborne viruses and emerging issues in an occupational health context for multiple audiences. Literacy-appropriate communications may include guidelines and protocols, fact sheets, trainings, webinars, webpages, and other forms of messaging. Duties encompass working with a broad array of stakeholders, including other agencies, to develop, promote, and communicate health equity policy recommendations and prevention strategies; create low literacy educational resources and translate into appropriate languages, mostly Spanish; develop dissemination strategies; and build relationships with stakeholders to expand partnerships for dissemination and collaboration. Specific projects could include improving indoor air quality in high-risk settings, developing training on personal protective equipment for employees working in environments that are high-risk for infection, and conducting focus on groups in English and Spanish to assess worker education needs.
Salary range: $80,000 to $95,000 annually depending on experience/ qualifications.
