Activity Director (Healthcare)
Job Summary:
The Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing therapeutic and recreational activities designed to enhance the physical, social, and emotional well-being of individuals in aDay Habilitation Program,Hospice, andNursing Homesettings. The role ensures that all activities align with residents' and participants interests, abilities, and care plans while promoting engagement and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and coordinate a comprehensive activity program tailored to individuals with mental and/or physical disabilities, hospice patients, and nursing home residents.
Assess the needs, preferences, and abilities of participants and create individualized and group activities accordingly.
Ensure programs foster socialization, mental stimulation, and physical movement, while respecting each individual's capabilities.
Supervise and train activity staff and volunteers.
Maintain records and document participation, progress, and effectiveness of activities.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, therapists, and family members to ensure activities align with each individual's care plan.
Organize special events, outings, and celebrations to enhance community involvement and resident morale.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies.
Manage the activities department budget, supplies, and resources efficiently.
Adapt activities to meet the needs of patients in hospice care, providing comfort, reminiscence therapy, and calming engagements.
Implement safety procedures and monitor participants to ensure a secure and supportive environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to multitask.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage participants, families, and staff.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Proficiency in using computers for documentation and activity planning.
