Engineering II (Finance)
Maintenance II is responsible for keeping the facility operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. This position will perform maintenance and repairs, and preventative maintenance, to all areas of the hotel.
Job Description
Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:
• Attend breakdowns, identify faults and problem solve, with minimal downtime to production.
• Carry out diagnosis of faults, the maintenance and repairs to all types of equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service.
• Estimate the length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales.
• Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage.
• Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management.
• Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations.
• Ensure company targets are met in respect of quality of parts produced.
• Assist in the development of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
• Carry out PPM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required and provide feedback to develop the system.
• Assist with the moving, installation, repositioning of machines and equipment.
• Make full use of the computerized maintenance management system.
• Plan and prioritize workload to support production and ensure efficient use of working time.
• Fill in job tickets/log completion of work on the computerized maintenance management system.
• Operate Forklift Truck and lifting equipment.
• Ensure all personal protective equipment is identified, always available, correctly used and all associated problems are reported to management.
• Promote environmental issues and ensure all company procedures are understood and followed.
• Undertake continuous training and development.
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
• Independently determine approach and assigned tasks.
• Adhere to federal, state and local safety regulations, brand standards and other compliance requirements.
• Report all unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
• Follow procedures that ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc.
• Understand and be able to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Dealing with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience.
• Always display professional appearance and demeanor.
• Attend departmental pre-shift and mandatory meetings.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.
• Ability to perform work without direct supervision and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to deliver high quality customer service and respond to customer needs.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
• Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team to reach common goals.
• Perform other job duties as requested by supervisors/managers as other job duties may be assigned as needed.
• Understanding Sonesta's company and safety policies and maintain compliance with OSHA and the health department requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Valid Driver's License preferred.
• Attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Reading and writing abilities are utilized to document or record all tasks completed, to order supplies, to receive instructions for the day and/or to read equipment repair manuals.
• Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, quantities, and variances.

• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Prioritization and time management skills.
Work Environment:
• Interior and exterior of buildings with potential for guests facing contact.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures inside and outside of the building.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to exert more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, stooping and reaching.
• Ability to stand during the entire shift.
Expected Hours of Work:
• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be
required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
• You must be flexible to work various days and various shifts of the week to include weekends, holidays, days, nights and overnight.
• Ten-to-twelve-hour shifts are sometimes required.
Travel:
• No travel required.
Education and Experience:
• Specialized knowledge and skills or certification within a field or discipline such as plumbing, electrician, carpentry, equipment mechanics, HVAC, refrigeration, etc. preferred.
• Trade school and/or college course work in related field preferred.
• Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
• Highschool diploma or GED required.
• Previous hotel experience or customer experience preferred.

Pay Range
$37.00-$39.00 - Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills, and job specific/overall experience.
