Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst to join our team in the metal recycling industry. This role will be responsible for providing financial analysis, reporting, and insights to support business decisions. The successful candidate will work closely with management and operational teams to optimize financial performance and improve business processes related to the recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Track and analyze revenue, costs, margins, and profitability, focusing on material costs, pricing fluctuations, and operational efficiencyProvide detailed financial reports and forecasts to senior management, highlighting key trends in market conditions and material pricesAnalyze transportation cost and efficiency, including route optimization, average weight per truck, internal vs external carries, and fleet managementConduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual performance, providing actionable insights for cost-saving initiatives and revenue growth
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and long-term financialMonitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to processing, inventory management, and recycling yield to ensure alignment with financial goalsDevelop and maintain models to forecast metal prices, recycling volumes, operational costs, and other factors influencing profitability
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with operational, sales, and supply chain teams to develop financial strategies that improve business performanceCommunicate financial insights and recommendations to business leaders, ensuring clear understanding of complex financial data
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related fieldProfessional certification (CFA, CPA, or CMA) preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial analysis, ideally within the manufacturing, recycling, transportation, or commodities industries
Skills:
Strong financial modeling, analysis, and reporting skillsProficient in Excel and financial management software Solid understanding of cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting techniquesExcellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data to various stakeholders
