Nemours is seeking a Constable II (full-time, 40 hours per week) to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, Delaware.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide protection for patients, visitors and associates by maintaining peace and order at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware.
Deter unlawful and unsafe activities.
De-escalate and assist with disruptive activities.
Meet all requirements of the State of Delaware Constable Program.
Investigate and document incidents.
Essential Functions:
Ability to verbally de-escalate hostile situations and physically separate and control combative individuals.
Respond to situations that may require the full range of use of force continuum.
Conduct investigations of public safety related incidents and initiate appropriate follow-up actions.
Manage Public Safety entry stations that control access to the hospital.
Be proficient in use of magnetometers and bag inspection protocols.
Parking enforcement and traffic control.
Patrolling hospital buildings, stairwells and grounds both on foot and in vehicles.
Respond to various types of alarms; door alarms, motion detectors, duress alarms, fire alarms, medical emergency alarms and other Public Safety incidents.
Performs all assigned work safely adhering to established departmental rules and practices. Reports to supervisors in a timely fashion all activities or conditions that are in violation of established processes.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes some weekends and some holidays.
Assist management with daily Public Safety operations such as scheduling and roll call.
Proficient in all computer based applications used by the Public Safety Department and the hospital.
Provide administrative and management support which may include policy creation and procedure creation.
Must have a valid State Driver's license with clean driving record and be able to operate authorized hospital vehicles
Job Requirements:
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Prefer advanced work related experiences from law enforcement or advanced education.
Minimum of 6 months experience required.
State of Delaware Constable License and a valid Driver's License required.
Must successfully pass a criminal background and MMPI testing (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory).
Must successfully obtain and maintain a license to carry a firearm from the State of Delaware for Constables.
Must successfully qualify firearms certification annually, three qualifying shoots per year.
Must successfully complete any additional training, certification or education as needed.
