University of Oklahoma
*Coordinator, Summer Bridge (Project Management)
The Engineering Broader Impacts Program provides comprehensive support to students within the Gallogly College of Engineering and Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy. The program aims to enhance students' confidence, growth, and readiness to succeed academically and professionally, thereby fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. The program was established to address the diverse needs of engineering students from underserved populations. By leveraging evidence-based and data-driven initiatives, the program supports students' successful transition into college, academic community building, and ongoing professional development. One major strategic enterprise is Summer Bridge, an academic success program that annually enrolls a new cohort of approximately 50 students who, through the admissions process, are invited to participate in the Gallogly College of Engineering pre-engineering summer bridge program. The Summer Bridge program focuses on supporting the personal and academic development and achievement of students in the Gallogly College of Engineering. The coordinator will work collaboratively with the Summer Bridge director, GCoE staff, the Dean's office, and other departments across campus. Tasks include supporting the recruitment efforts for incoming first-year students and supporting the summer bridge programming. To increase retention, during the academic year, the coordinator will work with the staff to create professional development events and develop and deliver program content for meetings/presentations. Additionally, the coordinator will support year-round advising and counseling to the summer bridge students and EBI scholars. The coordinator serves as an advocate for students in the academic review process and makes appropriate referrals to college and campus services as necessary.
