Under the supervision of the Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) Police Psychologist, the Police Mental Health Counselor provides in-house psychological services for FCPS. These services include confidential counseling to all staff, crisis intervention services, preventive education, and training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
Provides confidential counseling and referral services for department staff and their families.Provides mental health related training for new employees, citizen groups, and continuing education for personnel.On-call for crisis intervention.Conducts critical incident stress debriefings and Return to Duty Program after critical incidents.
Along with the FCPS Police Psychologist:
Coordinates and provides clinical supervision to the department's Peer Support Team.Acts as liaison between FCPS and local mental health/social services agencies.Advises the FCPS mental health co-responder and mental health response team programs.Consults on department training programs and with management.Collaborates with other police psychologists and other agencies' peer support teams.Advises various support teams and committees.
