ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT:
The Assistant Director of Advising reports directly to the Associate Director of Advising in the Muma College of Business. The Assistant Director works strategically with the Associate Director to establish and communicate the goals and objectives for undergraduate advising across three campuses. The Associate Director works independently to ensure the appropriate level of student and academic services be provided on a timely basis to meet all goals and objectives of the College. The College is comprised of 6,400 students. The Assistant Director of academic advising manages 11 academic advisors and is the main contact member of the Academic Regulations Committee for the college.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary goal of the undergraduate advising office is to facilitate/communicate/provide the necessary student services and quality academic advising necessary to recruit, retain and graduate undergraduate students in a timely fashion. The primary purpose of this position is to direct/manage the undergraduate advising in the College of Business. This includes but is not limited to providing technical advice, policy interpretation, and guidance for application of appropriate USF policies and procedures as they relate to staff, students, administrators, and external constituents, as well as manage/develop staff and resources to support the goals and objectives of the college.
POSITION DUTIES:
Direct student undergraduate program for the College of Business. Meet annual student success initiatives related to time to degree, excess hours and retention. Analyze students records using multiple systems. Know the changes between catalog years directing students and create academic plans.
Supervise/manage the Academic Advising Advisors for 6000+ undergraduate students. Growing staff, seven current positions occupied. Disseminating university policies and procedures regarding student performance metrics to advisors in the Muma College of Business across all campuses.
Coordinate all orientation activities for FTIC and transfer students. Responsible for transfer coursework articulation for all COB undergraduate students.
Represent the college on various college and USF committees such as CAA Technical committee; Chairs Academic Regulations Committee for the college.
Review course schedules and advise Associate Director of course scheduling issues. Advise Assoc Director of issues with enrollment management to maximize space and student demand.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree is preferred. A degree in a business field is preferred with a minimum of 5 years of advising experience at USF, preferably in business.
