Microbiology Specialist - MLS (FT - Days) (Biotech)

Demonstrates knowledge of Laboratory principles and theory. Follows approved Laboratory test procedures.Functions as the technical supervisor of the Microbiology section.Works independently, organizing to maximize workflow efficiency. Completes testing within the Laboratory TAT expectations. Take appropriate action when necessary.Ensures specimen integrity by adhering to Laboratory test procedures for specimen identification, handling, processing, and storing.Performs instrument start-up, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting as required with proper documentation. Take appropriate corrective action.Performs, evaluates, and documents all required Quality Control. Take appropriate corrective action.Correctly performs tests, interprets results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits with proper documentation. Take appropriate corrective action.Assists all co-workers in all areas as needed.Assists in the training of new Laboratory employees.Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the Microbiology section.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Bachelors degree in chemical, physical or biological science.MLS certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).Clinical Laboratory Scientist, National Credentialing Agency (NCA).ASCP CM and SM certifications are a plus.4 years minimum experience in Clinical Microbiology, all areas.
