This role is for the Respiratory Therapist who is licensed, professional, competent, and assumes responsibility and accountability for providing respiratory therapy using a defined process in collaboration with the health care team. The Respiratory Therapist in this position will coordinate the activities of the pulmonary rehabilitation patients including direct patient care, exercise and education, six-minute walk tests, oxygen determination, medication education and administration, and other respiratory scope of practice duties. Job Duties: Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical history, admission interview, physical condition, and exercise capacity while in pulmonary rehab according to established standards. Evaluate risk factors and develop individualized rehabilitation plans. Coordinates patients enrollment in the program Program Development: Design and implement customized exercise programs tailored to the specific needs and abilities of each patient. Monitor and adjust exercise plans based on patient progress and feedback. Education and Counseling: Educate patients and their families about the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation. Provide guidance on lifestyle changes, nutrition, stress management, and smoking cessation. Monitoring and Documentation: Monitor patients during exercise sessions to ensure safety and proper technique. Document patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements. Monitor and adjust exercise plans based on patient progress and feedback. Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, dietitians, therapist and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences. Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies, providing immediate care and coordinating with emergency services as needed. Patient Support: Offer emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey. Aware of patient rights and protects the patient/family rights and confidentiality.
