POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Building Code Administrator, you will assume a pivotal leadership role within our division, reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Campus Planning, Development, and Construction. We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic professional to lead our Building Code Administration group as the Department Head. This role is crucial in overseeing strategic planning and overall departmental success. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of inspectors and other support staff serving as the Authority Having Jurisdiction for the University. This position requires an experienced technical expert who is also a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of regulatory compliance, and a proven track record in managing a dynamic department overseeing a wide range of highly impactful and visible activities. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
The position requires master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience. Directly related career experience may be substituted for the degree requirements on a year for year basis. This position requires certification and license from the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations as Standard Building Code Administrator.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED:
Meeting the requirements of the Florida Statutes 468.609 (3): 10 years of construction-related experience and 5 years of supervisory experience. Licensure as a Building Code Administrator (BCA) per the BCAIB board rules, including passing exams related to the BCA certification from ICC and Florida Laws and Rules. Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field (Required)
