General Manager (Project Management)
Job Summary
Directs the overall functions of a single site through a team of functional managers and supervisors.
Job Responsibilities
• Plan, direct and monitor the activities of all subordinate functions to ensure that operations, plans, and projects are properly executed in accordance with policies and procedures
• Direct the development and administration of sales policies and procedures and assist in the establishment of sales objectives to maximize the center's share of the market and profitability of sales
• Prepare, monitor, and control the plant's annual plan and various financial reports and statistics to ensure adherence to short and long-range financial goals
• Select, develop and motivate employees ensuring fair and consistent treatment within applicable laws, policies and EEO guidelines to maintain continuity of competent workforce
• Review local credit policies and procedures through the Credit Manager to ensure adequate turnover and protection of accounts receivable
• Review policies and procedures for the processing, warehousing and distribution functions through the MPO to ensure maximum efficiencies to reduce operating expenses and ensure the safest possible operations
• Develop, implement, and monitor cost effect programs to achieve established goals and objectives
• Assist HR Department in administration of various human resources programs and policies and, where applicable, in contract negotiations with local unions to meet established collective bargaining objectives
• Maintain effective business relationships with customers
• Develop and monitor policies and procedures to ensure an optimum turnover of inventory, and that buying practices are followed which will maximize the center's gross margin on all product groups
• All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or equivalent business experience
• 9-10 years or progressive responsible experience in the management of one or more of the major functional areas of a metals service center
