ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience's mission is to educate health care practitioners about mental, addictive, and behavioral disorders, advance scientific knowledge about the nature, causes, and treatment of these conditions, and provide exemplary models of clinical care in order to benefit the health and well-being of the people of Florida.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Research Associate supports the clinical research mission of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences and its research programs at the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer's Institute. This position is responsible for a wide range of clinical trials support functions including scheduling and coordinating study visits, administering study assessments and conducting interventions, data collections, and phlebotomy. This position provides research support functions at the program's Mobile Unit, a 53-foot long mobile research suite that performs research study visits at local sites. This position is primarily assigned to the USF Tampa Campus but may be expected to work at other local locations approximately two days per week (40%) including but not limited to Sun City Center and Lakeland based on operational needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers cognitive testing per sponsor protocol data analysis; Ensures data collection and administration follows appropriate Federal, State, and University guidelines; Ensures administration and collection of assessments adheres to study protocols.
Coordinates multiple clinical trials studies; Provides and documents informed consent; Works within various systems to record and collect data including electronic databases, patient records, and status logs; Monitors medical record and lab sample collection; Ensures lab sample collection follows infection control and safety procedures.
Conducts pre-screening; Interprets inclusion and exclusion criteria from study protocols.
Conducts community outreach and promotes participant recruitment; Composes and disseminates information on studies to the general public.
Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the program responsibilities and one year of professional experience; or a Master's degree in an area of specialization appropriate for the program.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in area appropriate for the program; Experience working on clinical trials; Experience administering and using cognitive tests
