The City's Parks Worker I is a full-time, fully benefited position that helps with the operation and maintenance of city parks, public spaces, facilities, trails, cemeteries, and ball fields. Functioning as a member of a crew, the Parks Worker I engages in an assortment of responsibilities in turf care, irrigation, plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical, outdoor projects, and concrete; interaction with coworkers and the public makes for a creative and enjoyable work setting.
Work hours for the Parks Worker I position vary depending on the location of the park assignment, with start times in the early morning and completion in early- to mid-afternoon.
We're looking for someone at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED with any work experience similar to this role. A valid Colorado driver's license and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle are required. New employees are expected to obtain Department of Transportation (DOT) certification within 6 months of hire (the City will provide in-house training). Apply today!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receives instruction and general direction from direct supervisor prior to initiating tasks.Maintains and repairs landscaped areas, facilities and buildings.Cleans and removes trash from all areas including but not limited to shelters and restroom facilities.Performs maintenance and repairs in playgrounds.Maintains and repairs hardscapes, including pavers, concrete, trails, etc.Prepares playing fields, courts and supporting amenities for recreational use.Performs snow removal.Operates and maintains heavy and specialized equipment related to the industry.Maintains and repairs irrigation and pumping systems under supervision.Performs various horticultural duties.Using best management practices, applies fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides under supervision.Assists with maintenance of cemeteries.Maintains, repairs, and tests water features.Coordinates activities with volunteer groups.Responsible for following and modeling proper safety rules, regulations as well as sustainable practices.
