Environmental Process Engineering is responsible for the process design of all B&W environmental products. This includes working on environmental OEM and retrofit proposals and contracts. The Environmental Process Engineer will utilize principles of process engineering, material and energy balances, heat transfer and fluid mechanics as applied to a diversity of B&W and competitor products. Engineers must be able to handle multiple complex assignments, clearly convey results and effectively utilize B&W design tools and engineering standards.
Apply experienced engineering skills to perform heat and material balances, analyze heat transfer processes, evaluate unit operations and develop process designs for B&W's broad portfolio of equipment supply.
Size and specify purchased equipment, review quotations, and make purchasing recommendations.
Create Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
Support the development controls documentation, such as control narratives and instrumentation specifications. Prepare technical proposals and respond to ensuing technical inquiries from customers.
Review customer specifications and collaborate with other departments to document technical exceptions and clarifications.
Perform detailed calculations to support the development of performance guarantees, while collaborating with B&W subject matter experts to determine appropriate margins and risk assessment.
Work directly with other B&W departments such as Proposal and Project Management, various engineering disciplines, Estimating, Procurement and Scheduling.
Interact with customers, account executives, and purchased equipment suppliers.
Identify and assist in implementation of process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Bachelor of Science in engineering with 10 years of experience in environmental process engineering of emissions control equipment (Wet FGD, SDA, CDS, Wet ESPs, Dry ESPs, PJFFs, SCR, SNCR and post combustion CO2 scrubbing).
Excellent oral and written communication skills along with the ability to work within a team environment is essential.
This experienced position offers exposure to a wide array of B&W's technologies, and also provides opportunities for the candidate to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) based upon professional experience with one or multiple emissions control systems.
