Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Logging Truck Driver / Chip Van Driver to haul logs in a safe and efficient manner across Northern California. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a commercial vehicle for log transport, ensuring safety regulations and delivering materials to customers timely.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections of the truck and cargo.Haul logs from logging sites to log deck or mill.Abide by all company and DOT safety regulations.Ensure the load is secured and properly distributed.Complete and maintain required paperwork, including drivers logs and shipping documentation.Report any delays or issues promptly to your supervisor.
Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of related experience hauling loads up to 100k lbs.Valid Class A CDL, clean driving record, and current DOT physical.Ability to operate trucks with manual transmission.Log hauling experience preferred.Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to remain focused and professional in various environments.
Competencies:
Safety awareness and compliance with DOT standards.Ability to handle stressful conditions and tight deadlines.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for long periods, shift manual transmission, and operate foot pedals.Ability to perform bending and lifting duties.Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, and moving mechanical parts.
Work Environment:
Outdoor work in various weather conditions.Exposure to challenging terrains and loud noise.
Travel:
Local travel within Northern California.Must be willing to stay out of town M-F, with occasional Saturdays as needed.
