Grading/Paving Superintendent

Overview:
Kilgore Contracting, a division of Summit Materials, is currently hiring a Grading/Paving Superintendent to work throughout the Wasatch Front in Utah. This is a skilled position requiring employee to supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in spreading, rolling, tamping, and patching asphalt or similar material to form surfaces of highways, streets, parking lots, aircraft landing strips, driveways, etc.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Touring the job site with the Foreman to review scope, schedule and hazards. Become familiar with the project and contracted scope of work.
• Supervising and coordinating daily crew activities and reviewing production schedules.
• Production performance: recommend methods to improve safety, production targets, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance.
• Estimating work requirements to meet or enhance the estimated production targets. Detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment and correct.
• Be the site safety champion; ensure the safety of all crew members and the public who may interact with job. Following and enforcing company policies and procedures with all crew personnel.
• Conduct annual employee performance evaluations for crew members.
• Staying in contact with the hot plant regarding when trucks load at start of shift, trucking or asphalt production delays, inclement weather, asphalt mix quality, and end of day cut off. Report any deficiency to area superintendent.
• Ensure the crew completes daily operations with a positive, friendly attitude. Maintain high customer centricity and customer service.
