Specialist, Resource Development (Development Officer) (Finance)

The City of Fort Collins is seeking a Development Officer to join our Finance department. This is a full-time benefited position with the City with an anticipated hiring salary range of $64,000-$80,000 a year! The Development Officer plays a key role in identifying, securing, and managing resources to support the City's Cultural Services. This includes researching potential funding sources, writing compelling grant proposals, and developing relationships with individual donors, corporations, foundations, and sponsors. The role involves developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to increase revenue and visibility, while working collaboratively with the Cultural Services team to lead diverse fundraising campaigns-from capital to annual giving, sponsorships to community initiatives. The specialist is responsible for cultivating and stewarding a diverse portfolio of donors, overseeing fundraising events, and ensuring effective and efficient utilization of resources. They also manage donor interactions, process and acknowledge gifts, and collaborate with marketing, volunteer, and financial teams to develop collateral materials, submit grants, and manage fundraising budgets. The ideal candidate will have three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. We are looking for someone with a passion for community empowerment to bring their skills in relationship-building and strategic thinking to the City.

Develops and executes a comprehensive fundraising plan to significantly increase revenues and visibility of Cultural Services to the donor community.Identifies potential donors and prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, through research and networking. Cultivates relationships through regular communication and engagement and solicit their support through in-person visits and other forms of direct contact.Develops philanthropic strategy and departmental priorities in alignment with the operational values of the City's charitable services. Works in collaboration with the Cultural Services team to develop and lead a wide range of fundraising campaigns, from capital to annual giving, from sponsorships to community fundraising initiatives. Stewards a diverse portfolio of community donors and external relationships, including volunteers, support leagues, and passionate community fundraisers.Plans, oversees, and implements fundraising events.Documents all quality contacts, ensuring proper gift documentation management, processing, and acknowledgment.Maintains high confidentiality and adhere to City Give program policies and procedures for accepting, recording, and acknowledging gifts.Collaborates closely with the Marketing Coordinators, Volunteer Coordinators, and other departmental staff to develop sponsorship, fundraising, and membership collateral materials.Works with appropriate staff to prioritize, orchestrate, assemble, and submit grants.Takes charge of assessing, developing, and managing budgets for fundraising strategies and establishing the business case to prioritize fundraising campaigns. Works in collaboration with departmental financial analysts to ensure donor intent, financial processing, and necessary gift tracking.
