Sr Manager Transactional Accounting (Finance)
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
Implements strategy for accounting operation, production of financial reports, the maintenance of internal accounting policies and procedures, and the assurance of payroll and treasury operation and reporting. Oversees daily operations, directs staff in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures and programs. Maintains operating budget and manages expenses. Typically works on projects and initiatives that span 1-2 years and focuses on the creation of systems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Oversee company's transaction processing to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash application, adjusting journal entries, weekly, bi-weekly, and annual payroll and treasury processes and reporting, and monthly account reconciliations.
2. Stays abreast of changes in payroll and associated regulatory rules and guidelines.
3. Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
4. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
5. Responsible for annual benefit audits and form 5500 filings.
6. Responsible for preparation of financial data and reports to ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and corporate policies. Commands a thorough knowledge of the general ledger for all business units and the flow of information recorded in the general ledger. Assists with providing the on going reporting needs of leadership. Also provides analysis of trends and variances to assist management in understanding the financial impact of the business.
7. System expert in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Application, and payroll Also knowledgeable in procurement, requisitions and Payroll. Approves any changes to system structure, general ledger accounts and subaccounts as well as security.
8. Provides training and knowledge sharing, and technical assistance for general ledger, audit, and account reconciliations.
9. Coordinates, sets and monitors the organization's accounting principles, practices and internal control procedures associated with accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, and payroll to ensure their effectiveness and adherence.
10. Prepares, reviews and/or provides oversight for monthly analysis for the responsible functional areas.
11. Leading and Developing Talent: Manages departmental structure, development and training of staff. Actively networks and sources for positions within the team.
12. Project and Change Management: Plans and manages projects and improvement initiatives of moderate to high complexity related to departmental function. Manages change with direct reports (if applicable) and participates in the leadership coalition that supports the change.
13. Community Engagement: Champions and engages with community relations efforts, links outcomes to employee engagement.
14. Responsible for completing other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor's degree required and a minimum 5 years' experience.
2. CPA or equivalent desired.
3. Progressive experience with direct supervision responsibilities of accounting required in a large organization with diverse business entities.
4. Strong computer skills including MS Office, integrated accounting systems, fixed assets, budget, report writing and other software products.
5. Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable in a dynamic workplace while juggling many priorities.
6. Proven financial analysis skills.
