Research Scientist I, Applied Molecular Biology Division (Biotech)
The Applied Molecular Biology Division in the Research Department at New England Biolabs invites applications for a Research Scientist position focused on studying new enzymes and technologies for isothermal amplification. This position offers exciting opportunities for fast-paced applied research in a modern biotechnology environment and collaboration with internal cross-disciplinary teams. All research at New England Biolabs is self-funded with an emphasis on publication of work in peer-reviewed journals and participation in national and international conferences. Successful candidates will thrive in a dynamic and innovative role as part of a multidisciplinary team at NEB. Experience with a range of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques is required, particularly nucleic acid amplification, protein biochemistry, and enzyme assays.
Primary Responsibilities
Identify and explore enzymatic activities suitable for isothermal amplification
Create novel methods and associated technologies for amplification and detection workflows
Collaborate with internal and external partners to understand and develop applications for isothermal amplification
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related discipline
1-3 years postdoctoral experience; either academic or industry
Experience with protein biochemistry and molecular biology methods
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfort working collaboratively with various cross-functional teams and groups
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Proven track record of technology and method development
Experience in an industrial biotechnology environment
Publication of original scientific work in peer-reviewed journals
