Climate and Carbon GHG Accounting Manager - Supply Chain (Biotech)
This is a remote position working as part of our General Supply Chain Team at our Corporate Office in St. Petersburg Florida USA
How will you make an impact?
The Climate and Carbon GHG Accounting Supply Chain Manager will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for climate related topics, focusing on carbon (GHG) accounting and reporting within Jabil's Supply Chain, with a primary focus on Scope 3 emissions and climate related matters. This individual will leverage industry-leading methodologies and tools, such as the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, and Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), to calculate and manage carbon emissions across the Supply Chain upstream.
As an expert in the field, the Manager will support the efforts to implement effective carbon accounting and GHG emissions reporting, as well as Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) assessments, and Full Material Disclosure (FMD) requirements, ensuring alignment with global standards and certifications. The role involves designing a robust carbon accounting framework, overseeing the collection, validation, and reporting of GHG data, and driving initiatives to achieve Jabil's sustainability objectives. The Manager will also play a key role in supplier engagement, ensuring effective communication and compliance with carbon reduction goals.
What will you do?
Carbon Accounting and GHG Reporting:
Act as the SME for carbon accounting and emissions reporting within Jabil's supply chain, advising on best practices and industry standards.
Support on the implementation of carbon accounting frameworks using recognized methodologies, such as:
GHG Protocol for Scope 3 emissions reporting.
ISO 14064 for organizational and project-level GHG emissions measurement.
Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) for aligning with global decarbonization goals.
Manage and oversee carbon data collection, validation, and reporting, focusing on Scope 3, Category 1 (Purchased Goods and Services).
Support the implement Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) assessments across the supply chain, utilizing recognized methodologies.
Collaborate with suppliers and operations team to gather Full Material Disclosure (FMD) data, ensuring transparency and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
Develop, maintain, and continuously improve documentation for carbon accounting processes, ensuring consistency with recognized standards such as CDP, GRI, and TCFD.
Produce regular carbon reporting updates for senior management, including performance against targets, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Support the preparation of reports for external stakeholders, including customers and regulatory bodies, on Jabil's carbon footprint and sustainability progress.
Stakeholder Coordination and Communication:
Work closely with supply chain, sustainability, and procurement teams to integrate carbon accounting practices into business operations.
Act as a liaison between Jabil and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers, to ensure alignment on carbon reduction initiatives.
Provide training and guidance to internal teams on carbon accounting methodologies, reporting standards, and best practices.
Engage suppliers in carbon data reporting, fostering collaboration to meet Jabil's sustainability and decarbonization goals.
Process Improvement and Efficiency:
Design and implement carbon tracking, reporting tools and systems, focused on carbon emission calculations and lifecycle assessment.
Drive continuous improvements in carbon reporting accuracy, data management, and overall supply chain sustainability performance.
Monitor key carbon-related KPIs and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce carbon intensity across the supply chain.
Use project management tools to manage, track and deliver on carbon accounting initiatives.
Risk Management and Problem Solving:
Identify risks related to carbon emissions reporting and supply chain sustainability, providing strategic solutions to mitigate potential gaps or issues.
Collaborate with commodity managers to create procurement strategies that align with carbon reduction and sustainability targets.
Address supply chain challenges related to carbon accounting, providing timely solutions that ensure compliance with regulatory and customer-driven requirements.
How will you get here?
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in carbon accounting, GHG reporting in supply chain sustainability.
Recognized certification in sustainability or carbon accounting methodologies preferred, such as:
Certified Carbon Reduction Manager (CRM).
ISO 14064 Lead Auditor.
Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) or CSCP certification.
Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) Certified Professional.
Knowledge and Skills:
In-depth knowledge of carbon accounting frameworks, including GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) methodologies.
Familiarity with tools recognized by the market, or equivalent for lifecycle assessments and carbon footprint calculations.
Proficiency in project management and data analysis tools.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and lead discussions on carbon accounting topics.
Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP).
Experience in a multinational organization, particularly in managing complex supply chains.
Familiarity with global sustainability reporting frameworks, such as GRI, CDP, and SBTi.
