Under the direction of the principal, the Educational Assistant (EA) plays an integral role in supporting learning and achievement. EAs use innovative strategies to work directly with individuals and/or groups of students. EAs tutor, support, administer/proctor tests, manage behavior, and facilitate learning. EAs ensure that teachers receive support when working with students.
EAs must demonstrate a strong work ethic, have integrity, and be accountable to their actions. EAs align themselves with NMAs core principles and understand the unique challenges of an immigrant and refugee community. A successful EA will have experience in a high performing fast paced environment.
Instructional Support
Mentor, coach, and inspire students to be engaged in learning Reinforce and review concepts and skills Carry out the instructional program as planned by the teacher Monitor and check student work Gather/track data as requested Assist small groups or individual students as requested Support special education students individually and/or within groups
Organizational Support
Before and after school duties may include bus loading/unloading, arrival and dismissal assistance, monitoring students in transition between programs Supervise and monitor behaviors Teach students the RHINO Way Support operational and academic staff during special events Complete projects, secure materials, set up activities, collect/distribute work to students
Behavior Management Support
Maintain a positive attitude Act as a role model for staff and students Observe and chart data as requestedCirculate classrooms/areas with students to provide support as needed
Requirements
Bachelors Degree or Pera Pro certificate Required
