Senior HPC Linux Administrator (Project Management)
Important Information

This is a hybrid role and requires working on-site, in Kansas City, MO, a minimum of 50% monthly.
As an embedded technology provider, the Center for the Advancement of Data and Research in Economics (CADRE) supports data or computationally intensive research and analytics for staff in the Economic Research division of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and across the Federal Reserve System. Our services include multiple high performance computing (HPC) environments, research data warehousing and curating services, and endpoint support. We are committed to personal development, training, and research.
CADRE is seeking a Linux HPC Administrator to apply a broad range of knowledge in support of our many connected technologies. Core responsibilities include the administration of Linux-based HPC clusters, storage systems, and other related applications. You should have advanced Linux administration experience including scripting and pipelines, strong command line experience, and experience with configuration and automation tools such as Salt. Applicants should be knowledgeable in networking concepts and hardware as it relates to HPC environments.
Key Activities
Configure, install, secure, and support HPC and Linux virtual desktop platforms and their users.
Respond to user requests and support issues via a ticketing tool.
Monitor and manage system health and capacity.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to break down and define complex problems, formulate solutions, identify cause and effect relationships, make appropriate decisions, and communicate concepts clearly and appropriately with researchers and peers.
For Advanced and Expert levels, serve as an escalation point for complex issues.
Collaborating on yearly budgeting processes as related to hardware refreshes, new system purchases, and support contracts.
Manage physical assets within the Kansas City data center.
Review and analyze business and technical requirements and implement technical solutions to meet those requirements.
Occasional after-hours and on-call support is required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Typically requires at least 6 years of relevant and progressive information technology experience directly related to design, installation, and support of information technology infrastructure. New team members will be hired into the software engineer job family according to skills and experience.
Bachelor's degree specializing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.
Experience supporting and administering a High Performance Compute (HPC) cluster and its components: Red Hat Linux, SLURM, IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS), Spack, Salt.
Experience supporting and administering GPFS Permissions / NFSv4 ACLs.
Experience supporting and administering OpenLDAP.
Experience supporting and administering Kubernetes.
Experience supporting and administering Gitlab.
Passion for technology with a proven willingness to continuously embrace learning to meet the ever-changing technical landscape.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical teammates and customers.
Continuously improves processes and contributes to innovation.
Adept at solving problems and able to analyze details while concurrently adopting a big picture view, with an inclination for simple, re-usable solutions.
Strong interpersonal skills. Develops strong partnerships and relationships with team members, remaining positive to promote a collaborative and team environment.

$100,400 - 138,100 / Senior Level
Final offers are determined by factors including the candidate's qualifications, internal alignment considerations, district assignment, and geographic location.
Screening: This position has additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job.
