Evening Meteorologist, KSBY (Media)
KSBY, The E.W. Scripps NBC station in picturesque San Luis Obispo, California, is looking for an Evening Meteorologist to analyze meteorological data and prepare reports and forecasts for the public. You'll get to do all of that in a dream location – just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean and the mountains. San Luis Obispo weather is beautiful and ever-changing, so you'll have the opportunity to use your forecasting expertise to share compelling weather stories that will captivate viewers and help keep communities safe and informed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Prepare and deliver daily weather forecasts utilizing all available weather data and graphics computers.
Prepare and deliver urgent weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary.
Prepare and deliver all weathercast materials on various media, including, but not limited to, TV, radio, web and digital sites.
Assist management in evaluating potential new weather data gathering and presentation computers.
Receive assignments and evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
Deliver live reports and/or forecasts from various community locations.
Attend and host station events and serve as an emcee for community functions.
May produce quality news and weather stories for the website and digital platforms.
May report, shoot video, create graphics, edit and produce stories for multiple platforms, including the website and digital channels while adhering to strict deadlines.
Work cooperatively with a photographer, if one is assigned to the story.
Gather and verify factual story information through interviews, observation, and research.
Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
A bachelor's degree in meteorology is preferred, or equivalent years of experience
Generally, 5+ years of experience is preferred
AMS and NWA seals are preferred
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Computer literacy required, including weather and newsroom computer systems
Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment
Knowledge of editing systems
Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
Proficient at posting content to various websites and digital sites.
Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.

COMPENSATION RANGE:
Annual Salary: $90,000.00 - $115,000
