Job Summary The cost accountant supports and administers costing methods and systems for all divisions. This position performs and prepares routine and special cost analysis to support the manufacturing efforts according to Positronic policies and procedures. Job Responsibilities Supports and administers costing methods, procedures and systems. Prepares and executes annual global cost roll. Examines, analyzes, and interprets production variances including material, labor, and overhead. Maintains, studies, and collects data to determine product costs such as raw material purchases and labor. Facilitates the month end closing process reviewing account balances, reconciling as necessary, to ensure account balances are supported. Reconciles inventory, WIP, and various other accounts. Reviews, analyzes, and creates journal entries for inventory valuation, scrap, DMR, and inspection. Assists with compilation of cost data for preparation of annual budget or periodic forecasts including estimates of standard cost increases. Assists in calculation of cost savings for budget and measurement of actual savings. Calculates material, labor, and overhead rates for use in standard setting. Prepares cost estimates for new products and product changes. Rolls costs daily as necessary. Maintains the intercompany supplier price list, ensuring list is current and communicated. Conducts inventory reserve analysis. Investigates inventory shrinkage and obsolescence trends. Reviews purchase price variance reports, analyzes findings, and communicates trends. Provide cost-related data and analysis for special projects or management requests, including new product pricing, capital investments, and cost analysis for new initiatives. Exhibit exemplary attendance. Comply with company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Experience: 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or related roles, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. Physical: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stooping, twist, reach, reach overhead. Must be able to lift and carry 0-25lbs. frequently. Preferred: Experience with cost accounting systems, ERP software (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle), and Microsoft Excel.
