The County of Riverside's Echocardiology Department at Riverside University Health System's Medical Center seeks a Cardiac Sonographer to join our team.
This position will perform Inpatient and Outpatient Cardiac echos, Stress echos, and Transthoracic and Transesophageal echos on an all-age patient population. and must u nderstand, operate, adjust, and care for sonographic imaging equipment, d eal effectively with and understand the various types and conditions of patients, p roduce quality images, prepare records and reports, provide or assist with CPR, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, nurses, patients, and fellow workers.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Perform transthoracic echocardiography, including regular, contrast and Dobutamine types, as a separate procedure in conjunction with Cardiac Stress Testing procedures to aid in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease or abnormalities; select the appropriate transducers for the specific examination; select and store images for diagnosis by the cardiology staff; assist the cardiology staff with performing the above testing procedures as required.
• Demonstrate customer service; establish and promote positive interpersonal relations; function within the team concept with the patient as the focus; greet, interact, offer assistance, answer questions, provide information regarding programs and services, explain testing procedures, and witness informed consent.
• Prepare preliminary reports as determined by the cardiology staff; review images obtained and stored, and final reports with cardiology staff; prepare final reports for inclusion in the patient's medical record using available report generation hardware and software; maintain retrievable records of studies done using appropriate storage media.
• Perform procedures; set up patient and equipment; assess and monitor patient throughout exercise stress and pharmacologic stress testing; deliver age-specific patient care while considering factors related to the safe and effective use of technology and resources; inspect and adjust malfunctioning electro-diagnostic equipment to restore it to use or notifying supervisor of needed repairs.
• Assist lead personnel with monitoring and maintaining appropriate inventory levels of service and office supplies; maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Evaluate new products, techniques, and equipment for possible future use; participate in developing new techniques and procedures; prepare protocols and instructional materials for new equipment and techniques based upon the manufacturer's manual and specifications for approval by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
License/Certificates:
Possession of a current, valid certificate as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) issued by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
OR
Possession of a current, valid certificate as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and BLS.
AND
Education: Successful completion of a Cardiac Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or completion of cardiovascular sonography education from an institution accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
OR
Experience: Two years of full-time experience in Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technology (Echocardiography) supervised by a Cardiologist in an acute care setting.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance).
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable SEIU Memorandum of Understanding.
