Instructional Assistant Professor - Information Science Technology (Finance)
We seek a colleague who can contribute to the success and growth of user experience research and teaching track, and have an excellent record of scholarly research that informs their ability to teach undergraduate-level courses in User Experience Research, User Interface Design, Human Computer Interaction, Design Thinking/Prototyping, and/or Computer Mediated Communication. We welcome applicants with a diversity of research/teaching interests that complement those of our current faculty members and encourage collaboration throughout the department. Experience working with mobile technologies, web interfaces, database/information systems, cybersecurity systems, conversational agents/bots, augmented/virtual reality technologies, and/or artificial intelligence technologies is preferred. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Information Science or a related Digital Media/Technology discipline.
Candidates should have experience teaching in both face-to-face and 100% online formats at the undergraduate level. Ideally, candidates will have a demonstrable record of teaching both large lecture seminars and incorporating applied/hands-on learning experiences in smaller lab sections. Candidates should demonstrate an openness to innovative instructional strategies, a willingness for continuous professional development, and a continuous improvement plan to stay abreast of industry needs in curriculum design and delivery.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track position. Salary is commensurate with experience. The responsibilities include (1) a 4/4 teaching load of undergraduate courses relevant to the Digital Media program, (2) administering and creating certification programs in user experience and (3) contributing to service tasks as required in the program OR research in the program.
Digital Media is a broad field that encompasses the creative convergence of digital arts, science, technology and business for human expression, communication, social interaction and education. The Digital Media program is characterized by a curriculum which stresses the "producer" and "strategist" aspects of digital media and emphasizes the research/business aspects of the field along with its technical and aesthetic aspects. The demand for graduates with a digital media background is already high and is growing rapidly across a wide range of industries worldwide. Digital Media program prepares highly-qualified, sought-after, and technologically-savvy project managers who exceed the visual communication needs of their clients.
The Digital Media undergraduate program ( https://dot.egr.uh.edu/digitalmedia ) in the Information Science Technology Department, Cullen College of Engineering, is a growing program with several production and research labs, including the UH-UX Lab, the CougAR Lab for augmented/virtual reality research, and the Social Media and Inclusive Health Lab. Based in Sugar Land, Texas, the program is accredited by the Accrediting Council of Collegiate Graphic Communications (ACCGC) and serves over 500 undergraduate students.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Information Science or other relevant area of digital media/technology. Applicants must complete their degree before the starting date of the appointment. Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in-person, online, or in blended learning.
