Overview The Sr. Manager/Associate Director Medical Communications is a key member of the Shionogi US Medical Affairs home office team and works to drive all aspects of scientific publications and medical education on assigned products. This role leads the cross-functional and cross-regional medical communication teams in the strategic & tactical planning and implementation of assigned projects. This person is also a member of various cross-functional, global teams working across multiple projects, and serves as the central contact for internal/external stakeholders with respect to medical communications. Responsibilities
Support the development of omnichannel medical communications and educational plans for assigned Shionogi marketed and pipeline products
Establish a high level of working knowledge and contributes to the development, management and compliant execution of Medical Review Committee (MRC), CME/grants Review Committee, and other Medical Affairs initiated activities/projects as requested
Support process development/improvements for Medical Affairs including creations and updates of related SOPs
Collaborate with global and regional Medical Affairs teams and contribute to the development and implementation of the medical communications strategy and tactical plan
Lead scientific communications, abstract and symposium planning for medical conferences and congresses
Serve as central contact with internal and external stakeholder on all aspects of scientific publications and relevant medical communications to ensure efficient and transparent communication
Collaborate with the cross-functional Medical Affairs Team and contribute to the development of Medical Affairs strategy for assigned products
Support Medical Affairs leadership with long-term strategic planning, goal development and tracking budgets, metrics, insights and ensuring all activities are on track. Prepare, track and manage the medical communications budget for assigned products.
Support development of educational materials for use by internal, external, and field medical affairs personnel, including MSL tools, internal training materials, and congress booth materials.
Ensure adherence to all applicable Shionogi SOPs, policies, processes, and compliance guidelines
Track and report quantitative and qualitative metrics for Medical Communications activities
Additional projects and assignments as needed
Minimum Job Requirements Qualifications
Advanced degree (Masters in Health Sciences or related fields). PhD/PharmD highly preferred.
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in medical communications at a pharmaceutical company or medical communications agency
Experience planning and executing digital medical communications activities (virtual education, podcast, social media)
CMPP certification preferred
Direct experience in publications and medical education planning and execution required
Good knowledge of principles and practices of pharmaceutical clinical studies (including design, conduct, analysis and reporting)
Familiarity with Good Publication Practice, ICMJE guidelines and other applicable industry guidelines

Other Requirements
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 15% of the year.
Must live in a reasonable, commutable distance to Florham Park, NJ and be able to work onsite 50% on a hybrid schedule.
Essential Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to articulate clearly and conduct verbal presentations with large and small audiences.
Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane.
Ability to view video display terminal images
Ability to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time - up to four (4) hours at a time.
Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds.
