The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for all facets of operating and maintaining the fleet of vehicles located at Kings Views Work Experience Centers (WEC) in Atwater and Los Banos. Will oversee daily transportation operations, ensuring efficient and safe transportation services for clients. This role involves managing route scheduling, scheduling vehicle maintenance, driver training and coaching, and budget management.
How will I contribute
Maintain all records needed within the transportation department, to include 14C applications and reporting as well as records needed for various audit, inspections, and monitoring of operations and services. Schedule any needed repairs with vendors and ensure completion is done on time and within budget. Collaborate with the DMV to ensure vehicle registrations are current including but not limited to renewals and smogs. Verify all drivers are appropriately trained, licensed and medical cleared as required by the DMV, CHP, and all other related agencies, provide training and schedule medical clearance appointments as needed. Assist with audits including but not limited to CHP, Environmental Health, San Joaquin Valley Air Resources, and any other agencies as required. Order and inventory all needed PPE supplies for transportation department and well as all needed vehicles supplies included but not limited to: fluids needed when doing a pre-trip inspection and safety equipment including but not limited to seat belt cutters, window breakers, first aid kits, Hazardous Waste Spill Kits, and fire extinguishers. Develop and manage efficient route schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation services for students. Process invoices and make necessary and timely purchases of supplies. Operate within the constraints of the budget for transportation services with the support of the Executive Director and Administrator. Plan for necessary vehicle upgrades, replacements and purchases to ensure the fleet meets the program needs. Analyze transportation data, performance metrics, and operational reports to identify trends, evaluate efficiencies, and make informed decisions for continuous improvement. Identify and resolve transportation issues and challenges, such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or route discrepancies, to maintain service levels and customer satisfaction. Maintain all needed fire extinguisher certifications by conducting and documenting monthly and yearly inspections of all fire extinguishers in vehicles and within the facility. Promote a culture of safety within the transportation team by enforcing safety protocols, conducting training programs, and implementing measures to prevent and respond appropriately to accidents, injuries, and vehicle damage. Actively participate in leadership team meetings/committee, strategic planning sessions, and other relevant forums to discuss organizational goals, priorities, and initiatives. Contribute ideas, insights, and feedback to inform strategic decision-making and help shape the direction and priorities of the organization. Provide training, feedback and support to drivers and DSPs to support their execution of duties with professionalism and quality care for the individuals served by the department. Utilize knowledge of the specific individuals served to plan schedules and routes that meet the unique needs of the people with intellectual and developmental disabilities served by the transportation department. Be crossed trained and willing to fill in for the Recycling Center Manager position when needed or upon request. Manage facility and property maintenance and repairs as directed by the Administrator. Conducting regular checks of the facility and property to identify and report any issues. Perform minor repairs, such as fixing leaks, replacing light bulbs, or repairing small equipment. Ensure common areas are clean and tidy, including trash removal and cleaning spills. Keep maintenance and cleaning supplies stocked and organized. Perform basic upkeep of equipment, such as lubricating parts or changing filters. Regularly inspect property and transportation facility for cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning of equipment and infrastructure. Schedule and oversee repairs or upgrades to facilities, including coordinating with maintenance teams or external contractors. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program

Highschool Diploma (or Equivalent) Class C Driving LicenseCPR & First Aid Certified.Must be 21+ years of age. 2 years previous work experience in transportation, logistics, or a related fieldFleet and dispatch knowledge. Strong knowledge of route scheduling, vehicle maintenance, and driver training.Prioritize tasks, allocate resources effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining service levels. Lead and motivate a team of drivers, and transportation personnel to ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and performance standards. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to address inquiries, resolve issues, and provide assistance promptly and courteously.Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Capacity to build rapport and establish positive relationships with diverse clientele, demonstrating empathy, patience, and professionalism in all interactions. Integrity and honesty in handling cash and financial transactions. Commitment to providing exceptional service and exceeding customer expectations, with a focus on building long-term loyalty and retention.Class B CA Drivers License. Forklift train the trainer operator Certification. Previous experience in transportation coordination, or related field, preferably in a non-profit setting.
