Project Engineer (Finance)
Required Qualifications :
• BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Project Engineer
• Experience working with HCSS Heavy Job preferred, but not required
• Excellent MS Excel, MS Word, Primavera, Sage-Timberline, AutoCAD, or other similar software skills
• High level of interpersonal and written communication skills
• Superb organizational skills and problem-solving techniques
• Ability to complete accurate, timely work
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Flexibility to work in either the corporate office or a field office, based on project needs and requirements
• Support the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Field Personnel in reaching our number one company goal: SAFE, QUALITY PRODUCTION for all crews on a DAILY BASIS.
• Make sure that field timesheets are written correctly, with required notes, job number, and cost code correctly being used, photos attached, and approving them
• Thoroughly review contracts and specifications; identify all required submittals, testing requirements, close-out requirements, etc.
• Set-up, track and maintain submittal register log and follow up on submittals
• Prepare project letters and other correspondence, as directed by the Project Manager
• Ensure that all items required for invoice submission and processing (i.e. schedule updates, tap cards, fire hydrant cards, valve cards, as-built sketches, drawings, etc.) are completed in time to accompany our monthly invoice submissions to the owner.
• Maintain daily quantity spreadsheets for unit price projects. Verify quantities installed with the owner on at least a weekly basis
• Prepare working and MOT drawings, and maintain conformed set of project drawings, including a drawing revision log
• Maintain photo and video documentation of job progress
• Prepare information required for project manuals
• Ability to identify, prepare and negotiate change orders
• Ensure that subcontractors submit daily reports and monitor their production and schedule
• Ensure all work is done in a safe manner and set the standard for safety
• Perform periodic safety inspections and report any problems and safety hazards to the Safety department
• Identify and communicate with the Superintendents, and Foremen regarding issues, production, and claims that need to be addressed accordingly and notify the project team
• Able to make decisions in the field when issues are encountered and need immediate attention and coordinate the decision-making with the project team
• Ensure that subcontractors and vendors are set up in the system prior to starting any project. This information needs to be provided to the Dispatch, Safety, and Purchasing Department for the use
• Ensure that Turnover and Kick-off meetings are completed prior to starting any projects to make certain that contract parameters are identified
• Ensure QA/QC measures are being performed by crews working in the field.
• Perform material buyouts and ensure material compliance with Owner Specifications
• Submit monthly billing projections for all projects to the Senior Management Team
• Good customer service and ability to build relationships with customers
• Great attitude, proactive, team player and works well with client representatives and other team members (inside and outside the organization)
• Cost awareness and financial knowledge, understanding and interpretation of project budget, cost and revenue
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Good to great leadership ability and able to manage peers and willing to train
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Flexibility to work in either the corporate office or a field office, based on project needs and requirements
• Help in the preparation of RFIs
• Build and maintain Critical Path Method schedules in P6 and 3-week look-ahead schedules
• Assist with invoice preparation and submission
• Participate in required meetings
Physical Demands:
Light
Lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and files. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Work Environment:
Moderate
Occasionally exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise fumes, dust, etc.)
Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000
